Its Cortese grapes come from a magnificent hilly amphitheatre north of Gavi, situated in sandy-clay soils with south-westerly exposure. It comes precisely from the hills where I watch the moon descending towards the horizon, in the early hours of the morning. And this is the secret behind its name! Luna concentrates the most typical expressions of the Cortese grape and is highly versatile: good when served young, it rests very well for several years in the cellar. Its bouquet is reminiscent of the tangy, iodine-laced, sea air but expresses the charm of ripe pineapple flavoured with basil and marjoram. Entry onto the palate is smooth and its fruitiness is enhanced by the addition of medlar, remaining balanced and juicy, closing with a delicious almond finish.
